On-screen warnings: check the code and follow the instruction
Read the exact warning code and follow the car’s instructions before troubleshooting.

Read the full message
Similar headlines can accompany different malfunctions. After a safe stop, write down the code and text of the alert, as well as other active messages. In the Troubleshooting Alerts section, find this code: it explains the value and the action required separately, not just the cause.
Assess urgency
Some warnings report a temporary inaccessibility of the auxiliary function, others require a stop. For example, for VCFRONT a496, the manual describes preparations for a power outage and recommends a safe stop with roadside assistance. Therefore, you can not transfer the advice “you can go” from a similar message or someone else’s car.
Prepare a service request
If the instruction allows the movement to continue, perform these checks and see if the message is repeated on subsequent trips. Record the circumstances of the appearance to explain the problem to the service. A repeated warning requires the management's treatment, even if it has temporarily disappeared; the disappearance of a text does not in itself prove the elimination of the cause.
Keep in mind: If the car requires a stop, stop safely and call for help; don’t try to remove the message to keep going.
