Simple maintenance: filters, wipers, and washer fluid
See which routine checks Tesla describes and why intervals and capacities depend on the model.

Use intervals for the right model
Tesla lists recommended intervals in the Maintenance Service Intervals chapter. The Model 3 manuals checked here list cabin-filter replacement every two years and wiper blades yearly; the Model Y manuals also list HEPA and carbon filters every three years. These are recommendations for the listed equipment, not a universal schedule for every Tesla. Check the year and equipment against the manual for your VIN, and account for vehicle alerts and operating conditions.
Washer fluid: fill only the correct reservoir
The manuals say the washer-fluid reservoir is the only one that should be topped up; a low level triggers a screen message. Clean around the cap before opening it so dirt cannot enter, fill carefully, and rinse off spills promptly. Reservoir access and capacity can differ by model and generation. Use the procedure and fluid specification in the manual for the specific VIN; do not rely on a capacity remembered from another Tesla or add fluid to other reservoirs.
Inspect the blades as well as the calendar
Replacement is recommended yearly, but visibility matters more than the date: streaking, missed areas, or a damaged edge calls for inspection. Follow the manual to place the wipers in service position and replace them; do not pull the arm over the hood or lower it onto dry glass. If the washer stops working or a warning appears after replacement, check the obvious low-fluid condition and contact service if the cause is unclear.
Do not open systems without a listed procedure
Simple work on filters, blades, and washer fluid does not mean owners should open the battery coolant system or other sealed circuits. The manuals warn about damage from opening the battery coolant reservoir. Use the exact filter part and installation procedure for your version; if work requires removing panels or affects safety, have a professional do it. Record service dates and symptoms so the repair shop can see the maintenance history.
Keep in mind: Do not open the battery coolant reservoir; check the year, equipment, and manual before ordering parts or fluids.
