Supercharger costs: check the tariff, fees and final bill

Step-by-step check before charging: the tariff of a specific station, the method of payment, the possible surcharge for the occupied seat and the final bill in the Tesla application.

Region: Europe; conditions depend on station and country.
Models: Tesla with access to the Supercharger network.
Editorial sequence on official support for Tesla Ireland and general network rules vetted on October 7, 2026. See prices and surcharges for the selected station before connecting.

It is better to check the cost of a Supercharger as the cost of a specific stop rather than looking for one “Tesla price per kWh” for the whole of Europe. The fare is affected by venue and time, and Tesla also describes stations with a price that changes in real time before the session begins. Our inspection procedure will be useful before a long trip and at the first charge after buying a car.

Before departure: open the station card

Select Supercharger in your car navigation or Tesla app and check the price, fare hours, rack availability and local entry directions. According to Tesla, the price on the screen refers to the selected site and can change before the connection; the price of the session is fixed at the beginning of the session. In the general directory, you should not keep the tariff found as permanent.

See which connector is suitable for your car. Earlier Model S and Model X in Europe may require the CCS Combo 2 Upgrade for the V3 Supercharger. If the car has recently moved to you, make sure that the transfer to the Tesla Account is complete: this affects the management of charging charges.

Before connection: payment method

In the Tesla app, open the Charging section and check if a payment method has been added and designated for Supercharging. If the car is registered for a leasing company, specify in advance who is responsible for paying for charging. An outstanding bill or an outdated payment card may interfere with the next session. Do not enter details through a QR code on the rack: Tesla separately warns that it does not ask to pay for charging.

During and after the session: don’t forget to pay extra.

The cost of energy and the cost of a busy rack are different things. Tesla describes an idle fee after full charge and a congestion fee at loaded sites when a specified charge threshold is reached or a session is completed. Applicability and rate depend on the station and are shown on its card or application; for some situations there is a short grace period. Watch the message on your car’s screen and free up space after charging is complete.

If the route allows, do not hold the rack for 100%: charging speeds usually decrease when the battery level is high, and navigation can prompt enough charge to the next stop. But plan the stock by weather and route, not by a single digit of charging time.

After the session, open the profile → Account → Charging → History. There, Tesla places final bills; it is useful to check the place, time, energy and individual surcharges. If the amount is unexpected, first compare the check with the site tariff and session notifications, then contact Tesla in support.
