Why another Tesla has an update and yours does not yet

The update number in someone else’s screenshot doesn’t mean it’s ready for your Tesla. The company releases software in stages. Tesla’s official support specifically states that the Advanced setup refers to updates available for a specific configuration and region. It does not set the same deadline for all vehicles.

Start with the Controls → Software section on your car screen. Here you can check the installed version and the availability of an update; a description of the changes is in Release Notes. The practical approach is to read your car's notes first, then compare them to owners' discussions. It is easier to distinguish a function that has already appeared from someone else’s expectation.

To download, prepare a stable Wi-Fi. Choose a time in advance when the car will not be needed: during installation it is impossible to go, and charging is suspended until completion. Keep this in mind if your trip is scheduled in the morning and the battery is not yet charged. The mere fact of downloading does not mean that the installation will end by your departure.

The availability of features depends on the market, equipment, purchased options and software version. The European Model 3 manual explicitly warns that mentioning a feature in the instruction manual does not guarantee that it is on every car. Therefore, when checking the possibility of interest, compare the model, generation, configuration and actual interface.

Our editorial advice: Save the current version and a short list of important settings before installing. Check out the functions you use every day. If the expected item is not, start with the manual on the car screen: Tesla selects its contents for a particular car.
