Before the facelift

The first European Model S has an oval insert in the front bumper and a vertical screen. A particular car’s history matters more than its badge.

What to check when buying

  • Check if the CCS Combo 2 is equipped and if there is an adapter. For cars until May 2019, Tesla specifies a separate CCS Upgrade for access to the European V3 Supercharger. Having an older Type 2 connector alone does not confirm CCS.
  • Check the VIN in Tesla Recall Search and confirm your work. The campaign refers to cars with 8GB of eMMC in a multimedia unit; the year of release alone does not confirm that a particular car still needs repair.
  • Ask for Additional Vehicle Information and Infotainment Upgrade documents. Tesla is offering an update for some of the early-release cars; the appearance of the vertical screen does not allow you to determine all the equipment installed.
  • Check the number of passengers by car marking. Additional rear seats of early cars were intended for children. If you need a trunk on the roof, check its execution: the manual distinguishes between glass, panoramic and solid painted roof.
