Tesla describes an airbag software remedy for some Model 3 Premium cars

Tesla describes the campaign for the left-hand drive part of the Model 3 Premium. According to the company, with a side impact on a pole, the load on the human shoulder in the front seat of the affected cars may exceed the limit set by UN Rule R135. The company offers a software change in the algorithm of operation of the central airbag.

Who is concerned by the communication

The designation of the model and steering wheel alone does not determine whether a particular car is included in the campaign. Tesla is offering to check the full VIN in its recall lookup. VIN verification is more important than assumptions by year of release, version name or country of registration. For a used car, this check is useful to do before the deal with the owner.

What to do to the owner

If the VIN is included in the campaign, check the version of the software on the car screen in the Controls → Software section and follow the Tesla instructions for your car. The company indicates that the fix is contained in versions 2026.26.100.2, 2026.32.3 and subsequent fixes. The update is provided free of charge; if it is successfully installed, no service visit is required for this campaign. In case of problems with the installation, Tesla recommends contacting the service through the application.

Do not rely only on the version number from someone else’s message: the availability of updates varies by car. The result of the VIN check and the installation status on your Tesla are important. If the car already shows a corrective release, the official instruction tells you that no additional action is needed for this campaign.

Tesla says it is possible to continue driving on the affected car, but advises installing an update when it becomes available. The company does not provide a campaign start date on this page, so we do not call it a newly announced recall.
